The new TAG Heuer Monza Flyback Chronometer is a 42 mm special edition watch with a case made of ultra-light and durable carbon material. The striking black dial of the watch features two sub-dials: a translucent smoked blue sapphire mirror chronograph counter at 3 o'clock and a fixed elapsed seconds hand at 6 o'clock. The unique skeletonized dial makes it clear at a glance the movement below, while echoing the mechanical nature of this watch. The date window at 9 o'clock has a blue fluorescent effect, which is the first time TAG Heuer has adopted this design. The blue lacquered hour markers and the black and white lacquered hour and minute hands are covered with Super-LumiNova® fluorescent paint to ensure clear reading in low light conditions. The TAG Heuer Monza Flyback Chronometer is equipped with the brand’s own Heuer 02 flyback movement, which is a chronograph movement certified by the Swiss Official Observatory (COSC), providing high precision and outstanding timing performance. The obvious advantage of the flyback function is that it can be reset directly without stopping the timing, and the button to achieve this operation is made of black DLC-coated stainless steel. This feature, previously only used in contemporary watches from the TAG Heuer Autavia collection, enables faster and more accurate timekeeping.
The watch is equipped with 3 functions that are vital to the racer on the move: a chronograph, a tachymeter scale indicating the average speed of 1 km or 1 mile (measured by the indication on the black outer rim), and the measurement of heart rate per minute pulsometer. The pulsometer has a measurement range of 60 to 200 beats per minute and is used via the blue line in the upper right quarter of the dial, measured in units of 15 beats per minute. The user counts 15 heartbeats after starting the chronograph and gets personal data when pausing the chronograph.
Red details such as the sub-dial hands on the dial and the bezel of the date window evoke the excitement of speed and racing. These reds also contrast subtly with the black dial and case, the bright blue hour markers and seconds hand, and the stitching on the custom fabric strap.
